Since 2005, Marcia Hemphill, company president and wedding consultant, has planned a variety of unique and stylish occasions. Living in Chicago for more than twelve years has given her plenty of resources for planning classy, urban events in the Windy City. However, she isn’t limited to Chicago, as she has also coordinated weddings across the country and is always looking to expand beyond the US borders. Marcia, after spending several years working in the investment industry, decided it was time to put her creativity, inter-personal and organizational skills to full-time use and became an event consultant after years of assisting other event professionals.
Although most people find the details involved in event planning daunting, Marcia found she enjoys the process quite a bit. After working as an event assistant/consultant (in addition to her full-time career in Wealth Management), she took over An Urban Affair in early 2008, and continues to base her services on what she would want from a consultant planning one of her events. A current member of the Association of Bridal Consultants, Marcia delivers top-quality service to her clients to create wonderful and memorable celebrations. She holds a bachelor’s degree from DePaul University and enjoys travel, culinary experiences and spending time with her husband.
Day-of Consultant and Intern Coordinator, Emily Lambert, began with An Urban Affair through a college-related summer internship. With a passion for all things wedding – Emily brings calm and joy to every event. Eager to establish herself in the Chicago-land area, Emily moved from Cleveland to Chicago and began full-time with An Urban Affair in 2009.
With an eye for detail and a desire to help people plan their sepcial day, Emily creates a fun and inviting experience for everyone. Her limitless imagination, creative spirit and warm, caring personality are the qualities that set her apart from her peers. Emily continues to hone her skills and bring fresh new innovation to An Urban Affair as an asset to both our company and our clients.
Business consultant and founder, Keely Harris, remains in touch with the staff of An Urban Affair as an in-house consultant and guide. She formed the company in 2002, based on what she, as a bride, would have wanted from a wedding consultant and this has continued to be the model by which An Urban Affair services its clients.
Several other freelance consultants and assistants work to make every event exciting and well organized. You will be given the opportunity to learn about your consultant and meet them prior to your event (as time allows). In addition, assistants are assigned just prior to your event and are managed by your consultant.
